PS Logistics Buys Shelton Trucking

Expands in Southeast, Adds Terminals in Jacksonville, Mobile

PS Logistics purchased the assets of Shelton Trucking Services for an undisclosed price to expand its operations in the Southeast and garner terminals in Jacksonville, Fla., and Mobile, Ala.

Founded in 1969, Shelton is based in Altha, Fla., and has about 200 drivers.

Birmingham, Ala.-based PS Logistics is a full-service firm with a focus on flatbed trucks. It ranks No. 61 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of largest for-hire carriers in North America with revenues of $495 million. The carrier reported 2,247 company-owned tractors and 2,359 trailers.

PS Logistics, whose acquisition strategy is to partner with owners in the flatbed segment, has acquired 11 trucking and brokerage operations since 2007. In September, it acquired the flatbed operations of Celadon Group, purchasing its equipment, retaining its drivers and staff and taking over Celadon’s contracts with certain customers. Celadon was undergoing a realignment and financial restructuring.

PS Logistics is a founding member of the Blockchain in Transport Alliance, an organization working to develop and adopt blockchain applications in industry.
