Accuride Reports Loss for 2009

Truck component maker Accuride Corp. said Wednesday it lost $140.1 million, or $3.59 per share, in 2009, compared with a loss of $328.3 million, or $9.24, in 2008.

Sales fell to $570.2 million from $931.4 million, which the company attributed to reduced demand from customers in the commercial vehicle industry.

The ’09 loss included $11.4 million in restructuring costs and $43.5 million of other unusual items totaling $54.9 million, or $1.41 per share, the company said in a statement.

In a statement, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bill Lasky said this year will be challenging and “only modestly better than 2009.”

Accuride Corp. said late last month that it has successfully completed a reorganization plan and emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, after five months.
