Bank Will Specialize In Trucking

Former Ampace Corp. executives Bruce W. Jones and Jay N. Taylor established a merchant banking firm to exclusively serve the trucking industry.

Jones, Taylor & Co., based in Knoxville, Tenn., will offer advice on acquisitions and divestitures, corporate finance, business appraisals and executive recruiting services.

In the future, an equity fund could be formed to invest in trucking companies, according to Mr. Jones.

Before co-founding Ampace in late 1994, Mr. Jones spent six years as executive vice president and chief financial officer of J.B. Hunt Transport and 10 years as corporate controller and treasurer of Schneider National.

Mr. Taylor started his career with Union Pacific Railroad as an economic analyst. He spent eight years with Schneider National and also held senior management positions with Tri-State Motor Transit Co. and Country Wide Truck Service.

He also was a founding partner in Beta Group, a company that provided analytical and crisis management services to transportation industry clients.

Both Mr. Jones and Mr. Taylor remain on the Ampace board of directors and have an equity stake in the company.
