Contrans’ 2Q Income Edges Higher

Company Cites Three Recent Acquisitions

Canadian carrier Contrans Group reported second-quarter net income of C$5.2 million, or 15 cents a share, compared with C$5.1 million, or 16 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue excluding fuel surcharges rose to C$107.6 million, from $C101 million a year ago, the Woodstock, Ontario-based company said late Thursday. Transportation services revenue rose to C$91.8 million, from C$91.1 million.

Contrans said it completed three acquisitions in July — two bulk carriers and a flatbed carrier.

The company was “recently awarded contracts that we expect will, by themselves, add more than $10 million of revenue annually to our top line,” Chairman and CEO Stan Dunford said in a statement.

Contrans is ranked No. 60 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
