Dupré, GreenRoad in Partnership to Enhance Driver Performance

Dupré Logistics created a partnership with GreenRoad, a driver behavioral analysis firm, to enhance the logistics operator’s safety program.

Dupré, Lafayette, La., which has a staff of more than 1,000 workers, announced on Feb. 5 that the automated GreenRoad system will be installed on tractors, cars and pickup trucks operated by Dupré.

In a statement, the companies said the GreenRoad service is intended to cut down on accidents, lower operating costs and boost fuel economy.

“We are very excited about this technology because we see this as a tool to move us closer to our vision of being the safest transportation and logistics company in North America,” said Dupré Logistics President Tom Voelkel.

“The information provided by the GreenRoad system will enable drivers to better manage their own safety, avoid risk and become safer and greener drivers through improved fuel mileage,” he said.

The monitoring process is continuous and provides information on specific driver behavior from a safety, fuel efficiency and emissions standpoint. A system of green, yellow or red lights is used to alert drivers to their performance.

GreenRoad, Redwood Shores, Calif., also collects information on the trips and feeds it to fleet managers and other professionals, giving them visibility into each driver’s performance, Dupré’s statement said.

“We are excited to join forces with an industry leader like Dupré, who shares our commitment to safety innovation,” said GreenRoad North American General Manager Pete Allen.
