Mapping technology firm Navteq said Wednesday it will supply the digital maps used for GPS-assisted cruise control in Freightliner's Cascadia brand trucks.

Freightliner parent Daimler Trucks North America will use trucks’ cruise control system with Navteq’s global positioning system and slope and height data to automatically fine-tune and set speed to reduce fuel consumption, Navteq said in a statement.

Daimler dedicated its new Freightliner plant in Saltillo, Mexico, in February that will build the Cascadia line. It is capable of building 3,000 trucks a year.

DTNA is a unit of Germany-based Daimler AG.
