Supply chain software provider Kewill Inc. has agreed to buy LeanLogistics, a U.S.-based company that helps shippers manage transportation spending, from Brambles Ltd. for $115 million.

Australia-based Brambles has owned LeanLogistics since 2008 and will continue to be a customer once the sale is completed in about 45 days, Brambles CEO Tom Gorman said.

“We believe our global platform will help accelerate LeanLogistics' already impressive growth through leveraging our extensive European and Asian networks,” said Doug Braun, CEO of Kewill in Manchester, England.

LeanLogistics manages about $10 billion in annual freight spending for hundreds of shippers in the United States and Europe. The company is based in Holland, Michigan.

Dan Dershem, president of LeanLogistics, said the company’s association with Brambles since 2008 was helpful in terms of investment and expansion and “was a tremendous learning experience, but . . . there is power in combining with a global supply chain execution company.”

Brambles principally supplies pallets, crates and containers to shippers throughout the world.

Kewill, a portfolio company of California-based investment firm Francisco Partners, does business with more than 7,500 companies in more than 100 countries.
