UPS Inc.’s top financial executive plans to leave the company June 1 in order to focus on his personal health, the shipping giant said May 6.

Atlanta-based UPS will evaluate internal and external candidates to succeed Chief Financial Officer Brian Newman, who has held the role since 2019, the company said in a statement. UPS also reaffirmed its full-year financial guidance announced during its most recent earnings call.

Newman guided the parcel company through “unprecedented economic conditions” and is leaving the company as it is well-positioned for future growth, UPS CEO Carol Tomé said in the statement.

Newman joined UPS from PepsiCo Inc., where he spent more than 25 years in a variety of roles, most recently as executive vice president of finance and operations for the Latin America region.

UPS ranks No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America, and UPS Supply Chain Solutions ranks No. 4 on the TT Top 100 list of the largest logistics companies.
